Welcome to From The Legion, a new Inner-Strength Check feature!

Prelude (Scroll Down For Album Lists)

As will be discussed in future episodes, building communities around our lifestyles, passion projects, hobbies and creative leanings is of imperative importance for our psychological, social and community wellbeing.

We live in a day and age of accelerated atomisation, where everything is more inwardly focused. In the wake of the forced insularity imposed by the lockdowns at the acute phase of the pandemic, there is an endemic but also largely-unspoken secondary pandemic: loneliness.

Innovations in technology in the 'early 2020s' fostered a sense of shared struggle and social support from home. Less identified, however, is the post-pandemic languishing and continued sense of busyness, ongoing isolation and readjustment.

For my initial post, I'll save discussing my journey in various spaces related to my endless hyperfixation plate-spinning.

For now, let's summarise it by saying that communities such as MusoLegion have provided me a sense of support, shared interest and both online and real-world engagement with like-minded peers.

It's helped to act as a bulwark against my identity in late-capitalist culture being completely subsumed by work.

It's helped foster a sense of leadership in an environment where I've otherwise felt shackled to the whims of life.

It's helped me meet awesome folks in real life, and to have an awesome online space to differentiate myself from the existentially-meaningless wall of dopamine-tickling that is otherwise social media.

Growing from a Facebook group out into it's own blog, YouTube, Bandcamp, Spotify playlists and even a Discord server, it's been great to be part of the awesome admin team under the collaborative leadership of our crew.

Here's a few of us admins calmly enjoying a nice night of Japanese black metal legends Sigh in Melbourne, last year:
